Our leadership team has proven expertise and experience across a range of sectors including mining, fastening, construction and services. This experience is being applied to lead Segnut growth and the development of its core markets such as mining, where the product can be widely applied to ground engaging tools (GET), process infrastructure and bulk materials handling, amongst many others.

Roric Smith

Chairman

Roric has more than 28 years’ experience in technical and management roles in exploration and mining in Australia and internationally.

Roric has a thorough and practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented to the mining industry, and particulary the role of innovation in driving productivity gains. Roric has held executive positions at Evolution Mining and AngloGold Ashanti as well as senior mining roles in Australia, China, Mongolia, South Africa.

David Izzard

Managing Director, Director

David is an experienced Executive and Non-Executive Director with extensive skills in all aspects of financial and commercial management at a senior executive level in listed and unlisted companies.

David is a highly commercial, multi-disciplinary professional with strategic planning, project evaluation, financial analysis and asset management experience; and technical and operational experience across multiple industry sectors including mining, technology, health, manufacturing and services. He is a founding director and shareholder of a number of successful businesses, including Segnut. He has been responsible for several core achievements for Segnut, including capital raising, the establishment of Australian and international distribution networks, supply chain negotiations and organisational restructuring. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Australian China Business Council, and active in the two-way promotion of business and trade between Australia and the People’s Republic of China.

Tom Baskovich

Director Product Development

Tom holds a first-class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Western Australia and is responsible for the on-going development of Segnut products.

Tom spent his early career in the oil & gas processing and mining resources industries and subsequently trained as a patent attorney. He is a member of the Institute of Patent Attorneys Australia (IPTA) and the Licensing Executive Society (LESANZ). Between 2009 and 2014, he was the founding Managing Director and CEO of Breakaway Innovations Pty Ltd, a technology development company specializing in applications engineering of biometric sensors, wireless data exchange and analysis systems.

Brian Bradshaw

Inventor, Founding Director

Brian is the inventor of the Segnut and founding Director of Segnut Pty Ltd.

Brian’s combination of experience in the fastener industry, innovation driven problem solving, and access to sophisticated design and machining capability provides Segnut with an invaluable resource.

Brian has invented and been granted patent rights to multiple innovative designs, one of which has been implemented by the Water Corporation in WA. From 1993 to 2000, Brian was employed by NYSE-listed Furmanite Corporation, an internationally recognised specialist in on-site machining and on-line plant and pipeline bolting maintenance. It was during his time with Furmanite that he gained a first-hand appreciation of the productivity, labour costs and safety issues relating to fastener removal. In 2014, this knowledge provided the spark of the breakthrough design of the Segnut.

Matthew Handcock

Matt is a senior legal practitioner who brings a wealth of practical and pragmatic commercial and legal experience – gained over 33 years.

Matt brings a wealth of practical and pragmatic commercial and legal experience to the Segnut executive team. He has practised across a wide range of litigation and commercial fields, with a focus including risk and strategy, local government, insurance,  and property. He was  Head of the Insurance Division and a member of the Executive Committee at Minter Ellison before establishing the boutique firm of Mullins Handcock in 2000 where he was Managing Director until 2008. He then undertook a period of consultancy followed by in-house roles in risk management and in 2013 resumed private practice in his own firm of Effective Legal.

Paul Skinner

Non-Executive Director

Paul is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and provides advice and solutions on every facet of business.

Paul was a founding partner in the chartered accounting firm Pike Skinner in 1992, which has since merged with PKF Mack. He is also a founding partner in the financial planning firm PSJM Financial Services. Over the years Paul has developed a very broad spectrum of business expertise,  and is able to provide proven advice and solutions of every facet of business, including set up, growing and developing the business and ultimate sale. Paul has a Bachelor of Business Degree from Curtin University, is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Director’s, a registered tax agent and self-managed super auditor.
